Police have arrested TikTok content creator Toha Hossain for allegedly promoting gambling platforms through social media.
The accused in the case are Toha Hossain, 22, and his wife Hur-e-Jannat, 19. Both are known for creating content on TikTok.
Toha was detained near Gate No. 2 of the National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur-2 around 10:30 pm on Sunday (April 13), according to police.
A case was filed under the Cyber Security Act at Mirpur Model Police Station on Monday (April 14) by Md Rifatul Haque Shaon.
According to the complaint, Toha allegedly used his TikTok and Facebook accounts to promote online gambling sites, claiming users could earn significant profits by investing small amounts.
The plaintiff said such content has influenced young people and professionals to invest in these platforms, leading many to financial losses and alleged involvement in criminal activities.
Mirpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sajjad Roman confirmed the matter.
He said efforts are underway to apprehend the second accused, Hur-e-Jannat.
