South Asia Expo in China: PM invited

DHAKA: Visiting Yunnan province governor of China Li Jiheng has invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to inaugurate China-South Asia Expo to be held in Kunming, capital of the province, in June.

State minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam told media on Sunday after a meeting with the governor.

Shahriar Alam further said the visiting governor would formally hand over the invitation letter to the prime minister during their meeting.

The state minister said the government is looking for an economic zone for Chinese businessmen in the country.

The government has already ensured China that the place will be in Chittagong, which is considered as country’s financial capital, he added.

The minister also informed media that Kunming has termed Chittagong as a ‘Sister City’. The two countries hope to strengthen the bilateral relations in near future.
