SIRAJGANJ: A Sirajganj court on Sunday awarded a father and uncle to life-term imprisonment for their involvement in killing an 8-year old child.

The court also fined Tk 5,000, in default, three months more imprisonment to the convicts.

Sirajganj District and Sessions Judge Abdus Salek passed the order.

The convicts are Abul Hossain and his brother Khalilur Rahman, sons of one Abdul Majid, hailed from Alokdia village of Solonga Thana under Ullapara upazila of the district.

The case statement said Abdul Hossain strangulated his daughter Achhia Khatun, 8, with the help of his brother Khalilur Rahman On November 11, 2009 to make guilt opponent Jaynal Abedin from the same village over long dispute over land.

Later, they left the body in opposing Jaynal’s field and the child’s mother filed a case in this connection by mentioning Jaynal and six others.

After a long investigation Rakibul Islam, Sub-Inspector of police on behalf of Detective Branch (DB) submitted charge-sheet and he found the father and uncle guilt as her killer on November 12, 2010.

Later, they confessed the responsibility of killing over a statement under section 164.
