CHITTAGONG: Rapid Action Battalion personnel Friday found a local arms factory and recovered huge arms manufacturing materials at Horarbag village in Boalkhali upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-7, led by ASP Saidul Islam, raided the clandestine ordnance factory in the morning and recovered wooden butts of arms, triggers, firing pins, lathe machine and different types of pipes.

The elite force also arrested a suspected arms trader-- Ajit Baidya. Other gang members of the band, however, managed to dodge the raid.

ASP Saidul said, “During the interrogation, Aiit disclosed the names of two of his trade partners.”
 
Besides gunrunning, the racket was also involved in motorcycle stealing, said ASP Anirban Chakma, staff officer of the RAB-7 unit.
