DHAKA: BNP international affairs secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon claimed that BNP lawmaker Nasiruddin Pintu died due to the negligence of jail authorities.

He made the allegation at a press conference held at BNP Nayapaltan central office in city on Sunday.

Ripon further alleged that Pintu was brought to the hospital after his death.

According to the BNP leader, the former lawmaker had been suffering from different complicacies including kidney ailment.

Ripon said that the High Court had clearly ordered to admit Pintu at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University or equivalent to it.

‘But Pintu was transferred to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital prior to the city corporation elections in Dhaka,’ he added.

However, Pintu was serving life sentence in prison for his involvement in 2009 BDR mutiny.

Nasiruddin felt pain in his chest at Rajshahi jail. He was immediately taken to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH), where on-duty doctor declared him dead at 12:20pm.
