2 ex-Jamaat MPs held with bombs in city

DHAKA: Police detained two former Members of Parliament (MPs) of Jamaat-e-Islami among 13 from a house in Pallabi Thana of city’s Mirpur area on Monday afternoon.

Moreover, 20 bombs were also seized from the possession of the detainees.

On a tip-off, police conducted a drive at the house and detained Jamaat’s former MPs Professor Mujibur Rahman of Rajshahi and Mia Golam Paroar.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s Pallabi Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Dadan Fakir confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that they have detained two former MPs and a Jamaat leader Professor Harun-or-Rashid among 13.

The detainees organized a meeting on sabotage activities at the house. On information, police conducted the drive, the OC added.

According to him, legal action will be taken against the detainees.
