SYLHET: The first death anniversary of former Finance Minister and BNP Standing Committee member M Saifur Rahman was observed Sunday.

The veteran BNP leader died in a road crash on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Ashuganj on September 5 last year.

A milad and doa mahfil was arranged at his village home at Baharmardan in Moulvibazar district on the day.

Meanwhile, two factions of Sylhet BNP, one backed by Arif-Shahriar and another by Iliyas Ali, held separate discussions, doa and iftar mahfils marking the first death anniversary of Saifur Rahman.
