CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court on Monday placed three members of banned Islamist extremist outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on five-day remand each in a case filed with Karnaphuli Police Station of the port city over arms act.
Chittagong Metropolitan Hakim Rahmat Ali made the order as police produced the JMB men before the court with 10-day remand plea.
Additional deputy commissioner (prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier on October 5, CMP DB police conducted a drive at a JMB den at Khowaznagar area under Karnaphuli Thana.
During the drive, police seized lots of hand grenades and explosives and detained five. Of the detainees, one died in a blast of a hand grenade that he tried to throw aiming police.
Three cases were filed with the thana in this connection. Moreover, three JMB men were placed on remand in one of those three cases.
