DHAKA: A meeting of the ruling Awami League’s presidium will be held on September 17 at a time when country’s political arena looks heated up with opposition’s preparation for anti-government movement and government’s strict stance on the move.    

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Awami League, will preside over party’s highest-forum meeting at her official residence around 7 in the evening.

“The meeting will discuss the current political, economic and social issues and acting president of the party will be designated from the meeting,” said one party leader.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would leave for the USA to join the United Nations General Assembly starting on September 18, sources said.

She would return to the country on September 29, the sources added.   

General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, also LGRD Minister, called upon all the members of the presidium to attend the meeting.
