DHAKA: State Minister for Home Affairs Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku wouldn’t like any selective token trial of war crimes as he Thursday said all of the war criminals would be herded into the dock, no matter whatever the number.

“All the war criminals have to face trial; none would be spared, whatsoever the number of criminals may be,” said the Awami League leader.
 
He came up with the comment while talking to journalists at his office in the secretariat, when the trial process is on with five high-profile suspects in the dock at the first go.
 
He noted that an independent investigation team has already been  formed. “The persons who would be identified as guilty by the probe body have to face trial,” he said.

Earlier, more than one responsible persons of the government had said only some identified ones and kingpins of war criminals have to face trial.

He also claimed that the present law-and-order situation of the country has improved as the identified criminals are under watch.  

The minister also commented that the opposition party tried heart and soul to save the war criminals.

“They are trying to foil the trial of war criminals by giving threat to the government,” he said.
    
Sounding a note of warning for the opposition, he said such programes that could obstruct the trial “wouldn’t be allowed”.
