DHAKA: Acting Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed made it clear that the party leaders cannot be restrained by charging them with ‘false’ allegations.

“Allegations were lodged one after another against Jamaat leaders to implement foreign agenda, which wouldn’t be wise for anybody,” warned the stand-in leader of the Islamic party whose five top-most leaders are behind bars now.

He made the observations at a function Friday. Islami Chhatra Shibir Dhaka city unit organised the Eid-reunion in the city’s Al-falah auditorium.

The acting chief of the party said Jamaat leaders who always urge people to be honest and to stay on the right track cannot be stopped by accusing them of killings and torching.

He also said of the government that “threats and fears of jail can never resist people’s movement.”

Islami Chhatra Shibir Dhaka city unit president Monir Uddin Moni presided over the meeting.
