CHITTAGONG: Port city metropolitan Chhatra League general secretary Nurul Azim Rony has been released on bail in a case, filed for carrying firearms near a polling centre during Upazila Parishad elections. 

The central jail authorities freed him at 3.00pm on Thursday (June 30) after nearly two months of arrest.  

The district prison jailer Mahbubul Alam told banglanews that Rony was released High Court bail order reached at prison. The High Court on June 28 extended six months’ bail to him. 

On May 7, Rony was held during a raid led by a judicial magistrate outside a polling centre in Hathazari upazila during voting in the 4th phase of the UP polls.
