DHAKA: Opposition BNP will join the parliament session that began Monday, though not in the early days, with a pack of incendiary issues to kick up the dust in the House.

A competent source in the party told banglanews that their lawmakers would join the session in its later part.

Strategies have been adopted to stoke up heat on the floor of parliament through anti-government speeches and strong criticisms, said the source.

Attacks on opposition leaders and activists, cases against them, price hike, power, gas and water crises, harassment on the Zia family members, contracts with India--these would be the major points in the anti-government discussions in parliament by BNP lawmakers.

BNP secretary-general Khandakar Delwar Hossain, in this regard, told banglanews that a concrete decision would come about joining in the parliament session in the standing committee meeting scheduled for September 21.

“When and how we will join and what should be our speech in parliament will be decided in the meeting,” Delwar said.

Meanwhile, prior to leaving Dhaka for joining a UN session, opposition chief whip Jainul Abdin Farruq MP told banglanews, “BNP is ready to join parliament, and there is a possibility of joining the current session.”

Standing committee member of the party Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury MP said, “Nothing can be possible without joining the parliament session. In order to keep up the constitutional process BNP will join the parliament.”

And he is personally in favour of using both the street and the parliament to press their demands.

He said this time movement will not only remain centered on the street. This time the movement will be conducted under a new strategy.

To underpinning his opinion for returning to parliament, the BNP lawmaker said, “There are some sensitive issues in front of us which we should disclose to the nation. Speaking in parliament will be best way for that.”
