ISHWARDI, PABNA: An activist of Juba Dal, the youth wing of BNP, was shot and chopped to death and a pedestrian sustained bullet injury following a factional clash in Ambaria Bazar area of the upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Bari 36, son of Omor Ali of the area.
Locals said there was a longstanding dispute between local BNP leaders Hasibur Rahman and Iqbal Kha group.
Following the dispute, an armed group of Hiasibur’s supporters attacked on Iqbal’s supporter Abdul Bari at around 9:00 pm. At first they opened fire on him and then chopped him to death. Another pedestrian sustained bullet injury in this incident.
The injured were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
On information, police recovered the body.
Ishwardi police station Officer-in-Charge Bimon Kumar Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.
