NARAYANGANJ: Ballot counting has begun as voting ended at Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) mayoral polls on Thursday (December 22) afternoon amid tight security.

People of Narayanganj started voting at 8:00am and continued till 4:00 pm to elect their next city corporation mayor and councilors.

Around 4.75 lakh voters have exercised their rights of franchise in 174 voting centers.

A total of seven candidates including ruling Awami League’s Selina Hayat Ivy and BNP’s Shakhawat Hossain Khan are contesting in the mayoral post.

Around 9,500 personnel from different security forces have been deployed for security in the NCC polls.
