NAP places 11 proposals, 5 recommendations

DHAKA: Bangladesh NAP, one of the important parties of 20-party alliance, placed 11 proposals and five recommendations on Election Commission (EC) reformation to the President Abdul Hamid.

Party chairman Jebel Rahman Gani said this around 4:30pm Monday (January 16) after coming out from Bangabhaban meeting the President.

An 11-member delegation led by Bangladesh NAP chairman entered the Bangabhaban around 3:30pm.

They also said to the President that not only strong and neutral EC can ensure free and fair election, the government during the election time should also be neutral.

Some other members of the delegation are party secretary general M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, presidium members Golam Sarwar Khan, Saddam Hossain and Barrister Mashiur Rahman Gani, vice-chairmen Manir Enayet Mallik and M Farhanul Haque, joint secretary generals Syed Shahjahan Saju and M Nurul Amin Chowdhury, secretaries Shahidunnabi and M Kamal Bhuiyan.

Bangladesh NAP proposed some mentionable proposals are to form search committee following all parties meeting, the committee chief would be a retired chief justice who did not take any profitable position after retirement and EC would be free from prime minister’s control.
