SATKHIRA: Miscreants shot to death a local unit leader of ruling Awami League in Satkhira sadar upazila on Monday night (April 10).

The deceased was identified as Rasel Kabir, organizing secretary of Agardari union unit of Jubo League, a front organization of Awami League.

Rasel’s uncle Nazrul Islam told Banglanews that the gang of miscreants shot Rasel several times around 9:30 pm in Razarbagan area of Satkhira town where he used to live in a rented house.

He was rushed to sadar hospital where on-duty physicians declared him dead on arrival.

Nazrul Islam further said Rasel is a son of Sirajul Islam from Kuchpukur village in the upazila. “He was killed in an attack of Jamaat-Shibir in 2013,” he alleged.

Satkhira sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter adding that police are trying to detain the killers.
