NOAKHALI: Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader said that the opposition BNP will have to participate in the upcoming general election to save its own existence.
Obaidul Quader made the assertion after offering prayers at the grave of Freedom Fighter Advocate Momin Ullah in Noakhali Sadar on Friday (April 21).
He said, “It is BNP’s constitutional rights to participate in election. The government would not call anyone from its own to attend polls. The registration might be cancelled if a political party avoids national election for two consecutive times.”
“Like other democratic countries in the world, national election will be held in Bangladesh following the constitution. There is no such thing as creating opportunity for BNP so that they take part in election. They will take part in the election in their own need.”
Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Badre Munir Ferdous, Police Superintendent M Elias Sharif, Noakhali District unit of Awami League President Principal Khairul Anam Selim were among others present there.
