CHUADANGA: A BNP leader was hacked to death by miscreants at Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga on Saturday (April 22).
The deceased was identified as Showkat Ali Farazi, 57, a resident of Rail Jogonnathpur village of the upazila.
Alamdanga upazila BNP secretary general Asirul Islam Selim informed that Showkat Ali Farazi was president of Ward No-6 of Kalidaspur union unit of the party.
Police said that some unknown miscreants hacked Showkat while he was working in his corn field at Rail Jagannathpur village in the morning.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the Chuadanga Sadar Hosptal for autopsy.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Chuadanga Belayet Hossain and officer-in-charge (OC) of Alamdanga police station Akram Hossain visited the spot.
Keramat Farazi, brother of the deceased, alleged that the neighbors killed the BNP leader following dispute over land.
OC Akram Hossain said that police are trying to nab the killers.
