AL infighting kills activist in Faridpur

FARIDPUR: An activist of ruling Awami League was killed in a factional clash between two groups of the ruling party in Saltha upazila of Faridpur on Sunday (April 30).

The deceased was identified as Ziaur Rahman, 22.

The incident took place in Goalpara village of Atghor union under the upazila, around 8 am. 

Local people said that two groups of the party engaged in a clash in the morning following rivalry among local leaders and activists over last few months. 

At one stage, the opposition group attacked Atghor union parishad chairman M Sohag. Ziaur was stabbed dead on the spot as he tried to protest. 

Saltha Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Mobashwer Hossain confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
