KHULNA: Police in separate raids detained 18 people including 13 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Khulna.

The raids were carried out in eight upazilas of the districts and a student dormitory of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), on Monday and Tuesday (May 1, 2).

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADC) Monira Sultana of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) told Banglanews that police detained 13 Shibir activists from Bangabandhu Hall of KUET and seized laptops and organizational books from them.

Police also nabbed other 4 Shibir activists from sadar thana area and recovered huge yaba pills in the raids.

Besides, an Indian national was also detained from Sonadanga upazila, said ADC Monira Sultana.
