BARISAL: Samajtantrik Chhatra Front on Wednesday noon (May 10) formed a human chain in Barisal city demanding immediate arrest and trial of carpenter M Azad Shikder’s killers.

Advocate AK Azad, president of Barisal district unit of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Dr Monisha Chakrabarty, Nilima Jahan, a leader of district Chhatra Front, Hasibul Islam, Barisal University (BU) unit Chhatra Front leader, and Alauddin, a labour leader, spoke at the human chain with Johra Rekha in the chair.

Apart from ensuring exemplary punishment for the killers of Azad, speakers of the human chain also demanded workers’ safety at the working places.

A procession was brought out folwwing the human chain.

M Azad Shikder, a carpenter in profession, was brutally tortured by thrashing his head with the wall, at his workplace in the city on April 30.

He succumbed to injuries at a hospital on May 4.
