BNP demands Home Minister’s resignation

DHAKA: In response to a police raid at BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s office, party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has demanded resignation of the Home Minister.

He made the call at a press briefing in city’s Naya Paltan BNP office on Sunday (May 21).

Terming the raid as illegal, Fakhrul said this type of raids at a major political party’s office is unprecedented. However, nothing was found at the end and the home minister is responsible for such shameful government act. We demand for his resignation.

“The office of Khaleda Zia is a symbol of democracy. Police raid at her office means attack on democracy. This vile incident foretells a catastrophe in a country’s politics.”

Fakhrul also claimed that the government is acting in a fascist manner after BNP had declared their Vision-2030.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Supreme Court Bar Association president Barrister Joynal Abedin among others were also present at the event.
