DHAKA: The BNP on Wednesday (May 24) announced of staging demonstration across the country on Thursday (May 25).
The party made the announcement after it failed to get permission for holding a rally in the city's Suhrawardy Udyan.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed announced the program at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
The party wanted to hold the Wednesday’s rally to protest at Saturday’s police raid on the party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office. Police did not allow the party to hold the rally.
Rizvi Ahmed said that the party would stage demonstrations in all district towns and cities on Thursday. The party would also hold protest rallies in all thanas in Dhaka.
