This budget won’t bring good for people: Fakhrul

DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the 2017-18 fiscal year budget won’t bring any good for the people of the country.

The BNP leader made the comment at a function held in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Thursday noon (June 01).

Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal, the woman body of the BNP, arranged the function for distributing cloths among the destitute people to mark the 36th death anniversary of BNP’s founder and late President Ziaur Rahman.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the government has been using country’s national budget politically. It (government) also wants to use this year’s budget politically, as the government is placing the budget  for 2017-18 fiscal year keeping in mind the next Parliamentary elections, he added.

He also questioned the legality of placing the budget by this government, saying that the government is unelected and it does not have any accountability to the people.

The BNP leader said that the members of the 10th parliament are illegal. So, the Awami League has no legality to place budget.

He observed that the government won’t implement such a big size budget.

Mirza Fakhrul spoke against the budget before placing in the Parliament.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith is placing the budget proposal for fiscal year 2017-18 in the Parliament.
