Huge tax burden for widespread theft: Khaleda

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said that the government has placed the budget proposal for 2017-18 fiscal year with huge tax burden in attempt to widespread theft.  

She made the allegation while addressing an Iftar party at Bashundhara International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital city on Saturday (June 03).

The BNP chief hosted the Iftar party in honor of her party’s leaders.  

Khaleda Zia strongly criticized the government for increasing tax and fixing tax in fresh items. She said that huge tax in the budget will increase the price of commodities, while the tax rate will also create the opportunity of corruption.

She termed budget as ‘budget for looting’. The government has proposed the huge budget with a view to looting money. The government wants to suck blood of people and it was reflected in the budget, she added.  

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the party’s standing committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, Goyeshwar Chnadra Roy and Ameer Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairmen Abdullah-al-Noman, Maj (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Meer Mohammad Nasir, Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and Shamsuzzaman Dudu, and other senior leaders of the party joined the Iftar party.
