DHAKA: The BNP on Sunday (June 04) said that the Awami League government would be compelled to hold the next elections under an election-time supportive government.
“BNP won't join polls without supportive government. It will be great mistake of the government if it thinks to hold such an election like January 5 of 2014. Such elections won’t be held in the country in future,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He was speaking at a discussion meeting at Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) in the city.
Jatiyatabadi Sechchhasebok Dal, a front body of the BNP, arranged the discussion to mark the 36th death anniversary of BNP’s founder and late President Ziaur Rahman.
Sechchhasebok Dal president Shafiul Bari Babu chaired the function, while acting editor of Daily Amar Desh Mahmudur Rahman and BNP’s joint secretary general Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel also spoke it, among others.
