BCL leader Mahmudul’s ‘killer’ arrested

CHITTAGONG: Police on Monday night (June 05) arrested a man on charge of killing assistant secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Mahmudul Haq in 1996.

 

Police arrested the man named Abdul Quddus, 55, from Chinnomul residential area under Bayezid police station in Chittagong.

 

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Kotwali police station Sohel Ahmad told Banglanews that Abdul Quddus of Lakshmipur district was involved in the politics of BNP apart from working as a cook in Dostagir Hotel in Chittagong.

He allegedly stabbed Mahmudul to death in front of that hotel. Following this murder, he started living in Chinnomul area forcibly. After that, he was once arrested but got bail and went into hiding.
