‘Other forces stand by us if we launch peaceful program’

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday (June 10) alleged that members of the police are being harassed by the ruling party men.

“If we take to the field with peaceful program, members of different forces will stand by us alongside the common people,” she said while addressing an Iftar party.

National Peoples’ Party (NPP), a partner of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, arranged the Iftar party at Hotel Purbani in the city.

NPP chairman Dr Fariduzzaman Farhad chaired the function, while top leaders of the 20-party alliance joined it.  

Among them, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, LDP chief Col (retd) Oli Ahmed, secretary general of Jatiya Party (Jafar) Mostafa Jamal Haider, acting president of Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (Jagpa) Prof Rehana Prodhan, chairman of National Democratic Party (NDP) Khandaker Golam Mortuza and secretary general of Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Abdul Matin Saud.

Former vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr Emajuddin Ahmed and some other professionals also joined the Iftar party.
