DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has expressed deep shock over the killing of many people, including the members of Bangladesh Army, in the landslides in Chittagong, Rangamati and Bandarban.

The BNP chief expressed her shock in a press statement issued on Tuesday (June 13).

Khaleda Zia prayed for salvation of the departed souls. She also conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members of the victims.

She called upon the authorities concerned to provide necessary medical treatment to the people who received injuries in the landslides.      

She also called upon the leaders and workers of her party to stand by the affected people of the landslides.

At least 53 people died till now in the three hill districts following the downpour that was influenced by a depression in the Bay.

Four members of the Bangladesh Army are among the victims.
