DHAKA: BNP standing committee Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has commented that the democracy of the country is now caged by the ruling Awami League.

He made the comment while speaking at a rally in the front of the National Press Club in the city on Monday (June 19).

Jatiayatabadi Mahila Dal, the woman body of the BNP, formed the human chain protesting the Sunday’s attack on BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and his motorcade in Chittagong.

Mahila Dal general secretary Sultana Ahmed presided over the program.

Mosharraf strongly criticized the ruling party for attacking on the BNP leader in Chittagong. He demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment those were involved in the attack.

He also talked about the next general elections, saying that a level playing field has to be created before the elections.
