DHAKA: Jatiya Party MP Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu has strongly criticized Finance Minister AMA Muhith for indiscipline in the financial sector, and said that a criminal offence should be brought against him.
The party’s presidium member at general discussion on the proposed national budget in the Parliament on Tuesday (June 20) urged the finance minister to resign from his post, terming his proposed budget for 2017-18 fiscal as ‘budget of unlimited tax’.
“You are now old. Now you have a farewell and relieve the nation. You should resign immediately to relieve 16 crore people of the country. Please, step down with honor,” said the MP from Chittagong-9 constituency
He came down heavily on Muhith for his proposal of allocating Tk. 2000 crore as deposit for state-run banks. It is a proposal against morality and law. The finance minister can’t place such proposal. He should allocate the fund for education sector or any other sector, he said.
Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu said, “You (Muhith are disbursing bailout funds to the banks being plundered. You placed the budget of an unlimited tax, not a budget of highway of development.”
He also criticized the finance minister as well as the government for price hike of rice.
