DHAKA: BNP standing member Barrister Moudud Ahmed has asked the leaders and workers of his party to take preparation for street movement in the upcoming days.
The BNP senior leader gave the direction while speaking at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club in the city on Friday (June 23).
Swadhinata Forum, a pro-BNP social organization, arranged the discussion meeting protesting attack of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and his motorcade in Chittagong.
President of the forum and BNP’s central executive committee member Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah chaired the meeting, while BNP vice-chairman Shaukat Mahmud, chairperson’s adviser Habibur Rahman Habib and BNP central leader Khaleda Yeasmin also spoke on the occasion, among others.
Barrister Moudud, also a former law minister of the BNP government, said that the people of the country won’t accept any one-sided elections. BNP won’t take part any elections under partisan government, he said.
He also said that the government should come on talks table about holding the next polls. If the government is not agreed for holding free and fair elections, the BNP won’t have alternative to wage tougher movement.
He called upon the leaders and workers of his party to be ready for a strong movement against the government’s move of holding one-sided election.
Barrister Moudud came down heavily on the government for carrying out attack on Mirza Fakhrul. He blamed the ruling party men for the attack.
He also criticized the government for implicating the BNP men in the case filed for attack on the BNP leader. The cadres of Awami Juba League and Chhatra League carried out the attack on the motorcade of Mirza Fakhrul, but the government filed another case to harass the BNP men.
