DHAKA: Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday (July 08) said that her party had worked for establishing the rights of the people, and is still working for that.
She said that the Awami League always believes in the democracy. “We believe in the election. People are the owner of the votes. We want free and fair exercise of their voting rights,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina said these while delivering her presidential speech at the meeting of Awami League’s central executive committee held at her official residence Ganabhaban in the city.
She said that anybody can’t believe the betrayers. Terming Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad as the betrayer, she said that Khondaker Mostaq could not survive in the power for long.
She criticized late President Ziaur Rahman for occupying power forcibly.
She said that the Awami League was defeated in the 2001 elections due to conspiracy.
