DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia called on the government to take necessary steps in combating the spread of Chikungunya fever across the country.

The BNP chief also wished for early recovery of the Chikungunya patients, in a tweet from her Twitter account at 08:51pm Thursday (July 13).

Chikungunya fever is caused by a virus that spreads through mosquito bites. The most common symptoms of chikungunya are fever and joint pain. Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.

Though Chikungunya was reported only in Dhaka in the beginning, later it spread across the country.

Peoples irrespective of ages are reportedly falling victim of the fever everyday.

However, doctors are saying that there is nothing to be paniced over the fever.
