DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the electoral roadmap given by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda reflected the wishes of ruling party Awami League.
He made the remarks to reporters in a press briefing at party office in city’s Naya Paltan area on Monday (July 24).
Rizvi said, “While bringing out the electoral roadmap, CEC Nurul Huda said that a free and fair election is possible even with the ruling AL in power. This remark actually line up with the decision of AL. So the scenario of level-playing-field for all political parties to participate in the election is not prevailing in the country.”
Mentioning CEC’s remark on the inaction of EC before the announcement of election schedule, Rizvi further said that if EC can’t do anything then why would they publish roadmap one and half hours before the election.
“These kind of statements put out by CEC is frightening people with the thought of having another 5-January-like voter less election.”
