BARISAL: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has reiterated his party’s key demand of holding the next general elections under an election-time supportive government.
“The people of the country won’t allow any one-sided election,” he said at a rally in Barisal on Wednesday (July 26).
Barisal south district unit of BNP arranged the rally in Barisal city on the occasion of inaugurating the member collection program of the party.
The unit president Ebadul Haque Chan chaired the rally, while BNP’s central vice-chairman Selima Rahman, joint secretary general Mujibur Rahman Sarwar, organizing secretary Bilkis Jahan Shirin, BNP’s central committee member and president of Swadhinata Forum Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah also spoke it, among others.
Mirza Fakhrul asked the leaders and workers of his party to get preparation for the street movement, saying that the ruling Awami League won’t realize the demand of election-time supportive government easily.
He said that the government would be compelled to hold the next elections under an election-time neutral government.
“It will be great mistake if the government thinks to hold such an election like January 5 of 2014. The people won’t allow such election,” said the BNP leader.
