JSD hints at leaving 14-party alliance

DHAKA: The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) is thinking to leave the Awami League-led 14-party alliance, as leader of the party on Monday (July 31) hinted at leaving the alliance.

JSD will stand by the side of people if the 14-party alliance government leaders do not stop torture and corruption, said the party’s joint general secretary Nader Chowdhury.

He said this at a human chain, organized in front of National Press Club in the city demanding punishment of the abusers for torture of mother and daughter in Bogra.

Dhaka city unit of the party formed the human chain.

JSD’s another joint general secretary Rokonuzzaman Rokon, the party’s leaders Nurul Akter, Obaidur Rahman Chunnu, Freedom Fighter Shafi Uddin Mollah, Ashraful Huq Jhantu also spoke in the program.

“We joined 14-party alliance to fight against militancy, form a non-communal state, improve standard of life of the working class people by achieving economic independence. If these are not ensured, we will leave the alliance,” said Nader Chowdhury
