DHAKA: Awami League presidium member and health and family welfare minister Mohammed Nasim has once again said that the next Parliamentary polls must be held under the incumbent government.
Mohammed Nasim, also spokesperson of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance, said this while speaking at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club in the city on Sunday (August 06).
Gonotontry Party, a partner of the 14-party alliance, arranged the meeting with its president Barrister Arash Ali in the chair.
The party’s general secretary Shahadat Hossain and general secretary of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Inu) Shirin Akhter also spoke in the program, among others.
Mohammad Nasim ruled out the demand of BNP and others for election-time supportive government. He said that the next general elections must be held under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said that that there is no existence of such process in the Constitution. “Whether any party will take part in the polls or not, it is not matter. The next elections will be held as per the Constitution,” he said.
