DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has criticized the government for debating over the 16th Amendment verdict that went against the government and the Parliament.
Speaking at a meeting on Thursday (August 10), the BNP leader said that there is no scope of debate over the verdict, as the Supreme Court uttered the truth in its verdict observations.
Jatiyatabadi Sammilita Nagorik Dal, a pro-BNP organization, arranged the meeting at the National Press Club in the city in memory of BNP’s central executive committee member Md Selim, who died recently.
President of the organization Jakir Hossain chaired the meeting.
Moyeen Khan said that the government and the Parliament could have been disappointed over the verdict, but the people of the country are happy with verdict.
He said that the independence of judiciary needs in a civilized country. Otherwise, the country can’t run as civilized country in the world, he added.
