CHUADANGA: At least 23 people were injured in a clash between two groups of the ruling Awami League at Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga after Eid congregation on Saturday (September 02).
Among the injured, three are in critical condition. One of them named Joynal Abedin, was sent to Dhaka for better treatment. Six people were detained in this connection.
The incident of the infighting took place at Hapania village under Alamdanga upazila between the supporters of the local AL leader Emdad Hossain, who is also a local UP member, and the followers of Muhibul Islam.
The AL men engaged in clash after Eid jamaat centering delivering speech. At the time, the two groups exchanged bullets.
The 23 people were injured in the bullet-hit. The people except Joynal were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, Alamdanga Upazila Health Complex and Kushtia General Hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control, firing four rounds of bullets.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Chuadanga Abdul Momen told Banglanews that they detained six people in this connection. Police were deployed in the village to avert further violence.
