LAKSHMIPUR: Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader said that BNP will take part in the next general elections without the election-time supportive government.

Obaidul Quader, also the Awami League general secretry, made the assertion to reporters while visiting roads at Begamganj and Lakshmipur on Monday (Sep 4).

“Though BNP is demanding supportive government during the next general election, but they will take part in the election even without it.”

Comparing BNP’s capacity with the damaged roads, Quader also said BNP has no ability to wage movements as they had no connection with the people. If they had any connection or support of the people, they would have held protest rally in the Dhaka gathering couple of hundred people at least.

Moreover, the minister assured the people that the repair works of Raipur-Lakshmipur and Begumganj roads would be completed within 15 to 30 days. A renovation project worth Tk 94 crore has been taken into hand. 

Later Quader also spoke at a roadside rally at Chandraganj Bazar where local member of the parliament AKM Shahjahan Kamal, central leader of Awami League Harun-or-Rashid, district Awami League president Golam Faroque and general secretary Nur Uddin Chowdhury were also present.
