DHAKA: Awami League presidium member and health minister Mohammad Nasim has said that the Rohingya refugees coming from Myanmar are being given shelter in Bangladesh on humanitarian ground.
He on Tuesday (September 05) said that the government is considering the Rohingya issue from human ground. But, Bangladesh wants the resolve of Rohingya issue as soon as early, he added.
Mohammad Nasim was talking to journalists after visiting president of Krishak Sramik Janata League Abdul Quader Siddique at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the afternoon.
Quader Siddique was admitted to the hospital on Sunday (September 03) with high fever. Mohammad Nasim inquired the health condition of Quader Siddique.
Nasim expressed deep concern over the genocide of Rohingays. He said that the Myanmar government is killing the Rohingyas barbarically. The United Nations should intervene on the issue, he said.
“Hosting a huge number of Myanmar nationals is a big burden for Bangladesh. We are giving shelter to them only on a humanitarian ground,” said the minister.
