DHAKA: BNP chairperson’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu has alleged that the government failed to resolve the ongoing Rohingya crisis.
Speaking at a human chain on Sunday (September 10), he called upon the government to resolve the Rohingya issue in diplomatic efforts. An effective diplomatic initiative can solve the issue, but the government is not doing this. It seems that there is no government in the country, he said.
Bangladesh Jatiya Manobadhikar Parishad, a pro-BNP platform, arranged the human chain program in front of the National Press Club in the capital city protesting Rohingya genocide in Rakhine state of Myanmar.
BNP’s central committee member and president of Swadhinata Forum Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah and BNP central leader Syed Emran Saleh Prince also spoke at the human chain, among others, with president of the Bangladesh Jatiya Manobadhikar Parishad Prof Rafiqul Islam in the chair.
Shamsuzzaman Dudu said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Myanmar after violence began in Rakhine state in Myanmar. But Bangladesh is not taking any initiative in this regard, he said.
Criticizing the government for its attitude on Rohingya Muslims, the BNP leader said that the present government obstructed Rohingya influx in the beginning, but later it allowed the Rohingya refugees following international pressure.
