JESSORE: A special court has awarded three years rigorous imprisonment to Narail municipality mayor Jahangir Hossain and four others in corruption cases.

Judge of special court in Jessore Nitai Chandra Saha delivered the sentence on Tuesday (September 26) in the corruption cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court also fined the convicts Tk. 90,000 each.

The convicts are- mayor Jahangir Hossain, councilor of the municipality and district Awami League organizing secretary Sharful Alam Litu, former councilors Syed Mushfikur Rahman Bachchhu, Telayet Hossain and Mohammad Ali.

The convicts were present in the court during the pronouncement of the verdict.

The ACC filed several cases against the convicts for corruption before 2004.
