Chief Justice falls victim of government’s ire: Rizvi BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi speaking at the human chain

DHAKA: Alleging that the Chief Justice SK Sinha fell victim of the government’s wrath, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said CJ Sinha has been targeted for speaking against the government.

He made the remarks while addressing a human chain protesting the abduction of Bangladesh Kalyan Party secretary general MM Aminur Rahman in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday (Oct 6).

Rizvi said, “Chief Justice is the head of the judiciary branch and head of an independent institution. But the government did not hesitate to strike on CJ following the Supreme Court verdict that scrapped the 16th amendment to the constitution. The government made it very clear that they are displeased by verdict. It proves that it doesn’t matter whether you are the opposition party or even the Supreme Court, the government will victimize you if you speak against it.”

“The Chief Justice, along with his wife, went to Dhakeshwari Temple yesterday for performing Laxmi Puja. On the other hand, Law Minister said the CJ went on one month leave due to physical illness. So what is going on here?”

Rizvi further said CJ was targeted by the government for delivering observations on the 16th amendment verdict that was not well received. Now government want CJ Sinha out of the equation and the people is going to loose their last hope for justice.
