Govt intervenes in judiciary nakedly: BNP

DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy has commented that the government intervened in the judiciary nakedly through sending Chief Justice SK Sinha on forced leave.

He made the comment at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club in the city on Tuesday (October 10). Nagorik Odhikar Forum, a pro-BNP organization, arranged the discussion on “Good Governance and Citizens’ Rights”.

BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu and Dhaka city BNP leader Farid Uddin also spoke at the function, among others, with president of the forum Alhajj AKM Moazzem Hossain in the chair.

Goyeshwar Chandra Roy criticized the government for forcing the Chief Justice to go on one-moth leave.

He said that there is no rule of law in the country. The government is not a properly elected government. A properly elected government needs to establish good governance in the country, he said.
