BARISAL: A total of 109 people including 29 BNP leaders and activists were sued for obstructing the government activities and creating public nuisance in Barisal.
Kotwali Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Saidul Haque filed the case being the plaintiff.
Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Md. Awlad Hossain confirmed the matter to Banglanews Sunday (October 15).
Earlier, on Saturday (October 14), police used brute force, when a procession was merging into a protest rally as part of the central program to protest against the arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia
At that time, a group of enraged BNP supporters vandalized vehicles, and took position in Bir Shrestha Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Road.
Later, police chased and dispersed the supporters, as a result around 15 leaders and activists were hurt.
Ward Councilor Mir Jahidul Karim of City Corporation and joint Secretary Mahabubur Rahman Pinto of Sheccha Shebok Dal among eight other leaders-activists were arrested.
The detainees were facing arrest warrants, said the SI Sattaranjjon Khaskel.
