DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said his party did not oppose proposal of army deployment in the upcoming national elections.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, added that, “We want to take steps according to the law.”
He made this remark while talking about dialogues that are being held between political parties and Election Commissions (EC) in a program at Bridges Building in city on Thursday (October 19).
The program was organized for signing the contract with the contractor company in the Bus Rapid Transit Project.
The Minister criticized BNP supporters who crowded on two sides of Uttara-Banani road to welcome Khaleda Zia who returned home from the UK after three months visit.
“Unlike BNP supporters, Awami League supporters did not create mayhem at the arrival of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The common people suffered from this disorder in the streets.”
