COMILLA: BNP standing committee Member and former minister MK Anwar was buried at his village home at Homna upazila in Comilla on Wednesday (October 25).
Before the burial, his fifth Namaj-e-Janaza was held on the Homan Adarsha High School premises after Asr prayers.
MK Anwar’s body was taken to Comilla from Dhaka at noon. His fourth Namaj-e-Janaza was held on the premises of Gazipur Khan Model High School and College at Titas upazila in the district after Zohr prayers. Later, his was body taken to Homna.
BNP standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Comilla (north) district unit Awami League general secretary Jahangir Alam Sarker, BNP’s central leader Dr Rafique Shikder, Homna upazila Awami League president Principal Abdul Mazid and leaders from BNP, Awami League and other parties and people of all of walks of lives joined the Namaj-e-Janaza.
MK Anwar passed away at his residence in Dhaka early on Tuesday (October 24) at the age of 86. He had been suffering from various old age complications for a prolonged period.
The first Namaj-e-Janaza of the veteran BNP leader was held at Kataban Mosque in the capital city on Tuesday morning (October 24), while the second janaza was held in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office at noon and the third one was held at about 1:30 pm at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
MK Anwar was born at Homna upazila in Comilla on January 1 in 1933. He joined the government job as CSP officer in 1953 and retired from the service in 1990 after discharging the duty of the Cabinet Secretary.
He joined the BNP in 1991. Later, he was elected MP from Comilla and joined Cabinet of BNP government for two times.
